LG Shows off latest LED TV

In the very first post on this blog I mentioned LG’s forthcoming LED television range which was due to make an appearance some time this year. Well, the waiting is over: enter the SL90 LED backlit TV! I have to be honest, there doesn’t seem to be much info about this new LG model kicking around just yet but rest assured; we’ll find out more and update you asap.

So what do we know about this model? Well, for a start, the Samsung molding process, ‘crystal design’ seems to have hit the spot for many buyers as LG are touting now only the 1.15in panel thickness but also the “seamless” design (get this: “…look like it has been hewn from a solid piece of granite” – that’s LG’s sales pitch!). There is no visible distinction between screen, bezel and speakers, so this new HDTV looks like a single pane of glass – very eye catching.

LED backlighting cut down on electricity consumption plus the electronics wizards in their techie department and claiming the TV has a contrast ratio of 3,000,000:1. The SL90 is equipped with a 120Hz (100Hz for the UK) refresh rate plus their much talked about “invisible speaker system” which hides the speaker grilles but, through some technical cleverness, still gives a very decent audio output.

Here’s the kicker: as yet, only 42in and 47in versions of the SL90 have been announced and we can expect to see them later this yet (no prices yet). I’m pretty sure that, given the popularity, an LG 32 LED TV range will hit the market pretty soon. We have every intention of putting some pretty images as we find them but as it is LG have only released some shots of this LED TV that are, well, boring! We’ll update you soon.
